Being in a room with people actively working to send humans and robots to the Moon and Mars left Tosin feeling emotional, since he said this kind of access is still rare in Nigeria's space sector. When we invite voices from underrepresented regions into these conversations, we widen the talent pool and the perspectives shaping our collective future in space.

Mentorship Starts with a Single Outreach

Thanks to the internet and platforms like LinkedIn and email, Tosin connected with me weeks before H2M2. He shared his journey and his passion for space. From the very first moment, Tosin made it very, very easy to say yes to him. This is a pro strategy for opening up opportunities, including for mentorship!

Paying it Forward Turns a Moment into a Movement

Tosin left the Summit talking not about what he gained, but about what he now hoped to pay forward to his community. He wants to keep pushing toward his own goals while inspiring other young Nigerians interested in space. That sense of obligation to give back is what turns a single connection into a movement.

Cross-Generational Exchange Benefits Everyone in the Room

Executives and policymakers gain fresh insight from young professionals who see the field with new eyes, while emerging leaders like Tosin gain access to mentorship and networks that accelerate their path forward. This exchange has to flow in both directions to be sustainable.

Today’s era of space exploration has moved past footprints and a race between nations. The real work now is collaboration, bringing out the best of what humanity can offer when we work together across borders and generations. That collaboration is what will ultimately benefit life here on Earth.

Tosin's journey from a first-time H2M2 conference attendee shows what happens when leaders make space, literally and figuratively, for new voices.

You can help amplify new voices, too. Be sure to watch our conversation and share it with more people around you.
